Unlike many other things in life, both of these factors will have a singular effect on your enjoyment. For instance, the style and size of the cigar you choose will affect the taste of the cigar, the harshness of the smoke and even the temperature of the smoke you draw in from the cigar. Knowing a bit about the different cigar styles and sizes will help you know which you want to put your lighter to for your enjoyment.

Variations in Style

Cylindrical - This is the most widely used cigar style. This style of cigar allows for the even flow of air through the body of the cigar. This style is also the easiest to manufacture and is offered by most cigar makers. Generally, the cap on this style of cigar is rounded.

Torpedo - Less common than the cylindrical style, the torpedo is the another style of cigar. There is a more focused flow of air though the body of the cigar thanks to the tapered end. The torpedo style uses a funnel end that is commonly found at the head, or cap. However some cigar companies put the funnel at the let end, or foot.

Size Variations

When you apply torch lighters to cigars, you need to know how size affects your enjoyment. The size of the cigar you choose will influence many different factors about your smoke.

Length - Providing a ‘cooler’ smoke, longer cigars are often preferred. Longer cigars also typically provide a smoother taste and lack the harshness that can often be associated with shorter cigar sizes.

Diameter -Ring gauge (diameter) of a cigar also plays a determining factor. This cigars generally have harsher smoke and will burn at a faster rate. However, a cigar that is wider will generally burn more slowly and will provide a smoother smoking experience.

Remember, also, before you contemplate using your lighter to set your cigar smoldering, longer, fatter cigars are often the most expensive. This is because it takes longer leaves and more of them to create the cigar. In essence, you’re paying more because you’re getting more.
